Fire at the Gau-Bickelheimer Straße site in Sprendlingen

On Sunday afternoon, 2 August 2026, a fire broke out for as yet unknown reasons on the premises of POSSEHL Spezialbau GmbH & Co. KG and its sister company cds Polymere GmbH & Co. KG on Gau-Bickelheimer Straße in Sprendlingen. The fire has now been completely extinguished. According to current information, a wing of an administrative building and the production facility have been affected. Another administrative building remained undamaged. During the fire-fighting operations, one firefighter was treated by the ambulance service for heat exhaustion. No other injuries have been reported.

The Mainz-Bingen District Civil Protection Authority coordinated the deployment of the fire service, emergency services, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) and the police in close consultation with the site management, in accordance with the existing fire safety plan, and issued the official final report at 00:02 on Monday morning. The damage assessment has begun. It is not yet possible to comment on when operations at the site will resume. Staff at the site will be informed of this in due course.
